How to Make Paneer Tikka Masala?
Trust me, this is going to be super easy, All we have to do is to follow these simple steps to prepare paneer tikka masala at home:
Step 1: Cut and Marinate the Paneer
- We will cut the paneer into bite-sized cubes and keep aside.
- In a blender or mixer, we will now grind the ginger and garlic into a smooth paste.
- In a large bowl, whisk the yogurt until smooth.
- Add salt, turmeric, red chili powder, garam masala, and kasuri methi to the yogurt and mix well.
- Add the paneer cubes to the yogurt mixture and toss gently to coat them well.
- Cover the bowl with a cling wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least an hour or up to overnight.
Step 2: Roast the Paneer
- In the pan, we will heat about 4-5 tablespoons of oil. Once hot, add the marinated paneer cubes. Flip them upside down once you think they are done, about 1.5 minutes on each side. Ensure enough oil to prevent sticking.
- Once done, line a plate with a paper towel and place the paneer cubes on it.
- Again in the same pan, add 1 tablespoon of oil. Add cumin seeds, bay leaf, and a small cinnamon stick. Let it sizzle.
Step 3: Make the Gravy
- In a blender or mixer, grind the onion, tomato, and cashew nuts into a smooth puree.
- Heat oil in a large skillet or kadhai over medium-high heat.
- Add the onion-tomato puree and bring it to a boil.
- We will now lower the heat and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the gravy thickens and leaves oil on the sides.
- Add salt, red chili powder, garam masala, and kasuri methi to the gravy and mix well.
- Add water as needed to adjust the consistency of the gravy.
- Add cream and mix well.
- Add the paneer cubes and simmer for another 10 minutes, until they are heated through and absorb some of the gravy.
Step 4: Garnish and Serve
Transfer the paneer tikka masala to a serving dish and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot with roti, naan, paratha, kulcha, rice, or pulao. Enjoy your restaurant/dhaba style paneer tikka masala at home!
